Monday Nature Mystery
We are pleased to announce the winner of our Monday Nature Mystery, Mike Molnar! Please email us your snail mail address and preference for a hat or tote bag to:

Congratulations to Mike for correctly identifying an egg laid by a Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus). Female monarchs lay one egg on one leaf on a milkweed plant. Sometimes they will exhibit a behavior called egg dumping ([link removed]) , where they lay more than one egg on a leaf or plant. The Monarchs that you see now are part of the Super Generation ([link removed]) that will migrate back to Mexico to overwinter before starting their journey north next year.
