Dear John,

As you may know I serve on the Leadership Council for Vote Mama [[link removed]] , the first Political Action Committee dedicated to increasing the political power of Democratic moms by disrupting the systems that hold women back through direct financial support, mentorship, and endorsements. Since its launch in 2019, Vote Mama has helped almost 200 Democratic moms run for office from School Board to U.S. Senate in 28 states.

I am writing to invite you to a very important event on Tuesday, October 12th at 6:00 PM EST in support of Vote Mama’s Virginia candidates. Please click here for more details and to RSVP. [[link removed]]

In less than a month, on November 2nd, Virginia will be holding their local elections, which will decide the fate of their state legislature. In 2019, Democrats took control of the Virginia state legislature for the first time in two decades, and we have to make sure that Democrats retain that majority.

Virginia is often seen as the indicator of what will come in the midterms, and it is imperative going into 2022 that Democrats are seen as strong and viable. But even more importantly, we have seen over the last year and a half how powerful state government is, and what the consequences are when Republicans are in control-- whether it’s banning schools from implementing a mask mandate in Florida, rolling back 50 years of Supreme Court precedent to ensure women have the right to choose in Texas, or disenfranchising voters in Georgia.

We don’t just need more Democrats in office to fight back on these misinformed and dangerous policies, we need more Democratic moms because they understand at a visceral level the challenges that working families and women face, but too often do not have a seat at the table.

More Democratic moms in office means more policies that reflect the needs of working families, children, and women.

That is why I hope you will join me on October 12th to meet and hear from Vote Mama’s impressive slate of candidates in Virginia, all moms who are running to make a positive and needed difference in their state. All funds raised through this event will go directly to the candidates, who need our help making it to the finish line in the last stretch of their campaigns. [[link removed]]

With Gratitude,

Jennifer Carroll Foy
