We’re proud to celebrate and honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Working toward a more equitable future for Native Americans and Indigenous People is vital in the wake of hundreds of years of cruelty and injustice.
Native American communities have been blocked from the ballot box with voter ID, polling place closures, and restrictions on residency that have made it harder for people to vote. That ends with the bipartisan Native American Voting Rights Act.

The bill was introduced by the Ho-Chunk Nation member, Democratic Rep. Sharice Davis and Chickasaw Nation member, Republican Rep. Tom Cole. Democrats and Republicans are joining forces to stop voter suppression impacting Native American communities.
The Native American Voting Rights Act would allow tribes to set voter registration sites, polling places and drop boxes. The bill would also prohibit states from closing voting locations, require voter ID states accept tribal IDs, and mandate the federal government to document reports of voter suppression.
This voting rights bill has a real chance at passing and we’re doing everything in our power to push Congress to expand access for Native American communities.
