A Note from Chrissy: Last month was a busy month as I continued the critical work to build back better for you and your family. I helped pass a bill to create a federal protection for women’s reproductive freedoms, fought for much-needed infrastructure funding, participated in many House hearings on Afghanistan, and so much more. I’m committed to reaching across the aisle to get things done for you, and I’m proud to say a lot of these accomplishments were achieved together with my Republican colleagues. I know there’s a lot to dig in to, but here are just a few highlights:

Daily Local News: Chester County to get federal disaster aid as residents continue cleanup from Ida. Hurricane Ida swept through our community last month, leaving behind extensive damage and a long road to recovery for many caught in its path. As the sun rose on Sept. 2, our first responders — on little or no sleep at all — were still hard at work clearing roads and helping residents. This month, I did everything I could to speed up the process to get our Commonwealth federal disaster aid, including pushing necessary data to the Governor and White House and urging them to help activate the full resources of FEMA behind our efforts.

NPR: Secretary of State Blinken to Testify Before U.S. House Panel On Afghanistan. When it comes to war and conflict – especially our country’s 20-year war in Afghanistan – pain knows no political party, and no party owns patriotism. This month, as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I questioned Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken about our withdrawal from Afghanistan. I spoke with NPR’s Noel King ahead of Secretary Blinken’s testimony. Click here to listen to the full interview.

Roll Call: Congress moves toward requiring all citizens to register for the draft. As a former Air Force officer, and third generation vet, I know that gender equity is a national security issue and that discriminating based on sex is unconstitutional. That’s why I helped pass an historic bipartisan amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act to modernize the selective services (also known as the “draft”) to include all citizens. I hope we never need the draft, but in a national security emergency we will fare better if everyone is a part of our nation’s response.

From Capitol Hill: Women’s Health Protection Act Texas’ alarming, unconstitutional attack on Roe v. Wade can’t be taken lightly. No legislator should be making these reproductive decisions for someone else. To respond to these threats to our reproductive freedoms, I helped pass the Women’s Health Protection Act. This isn’t just a womens’ health issue – it’s a social and economic issue that affects every one of us.

That’s just a bit of what has been going on this month but stay tuned for more updates on my fight for working families in our Commonwealth and across our nation. And, while it's somewhat out of the ordinary in Washington, I do make sure to take time every week to call back constituents who've contacted our office. These conversations keep me grounded in the most urgent issues facing our community. I’d love to hear from you, too! There is work to be done. – Chrissy While Chrissy is focused on delivering progress in the House, fundraising is the last thing on her mind. But the GOP is already eyeing our critical battleground, naming Chrissy one of their top targets for a blue-to-red flip. We have to build up our resources early to make sure we can fight back against GOP attacks and defend this battleground district come 2022 – so we’re asking for her: Will you make a donation to help reelect Chrissy to Congress? Your support will make such a difference in our work to defend this critical seat and keep the House blue.
