Dear John,

Do you have an ideology?

The nightmare of American politics is that we're all trapped on an island with people who consistently imagine how much better the world would be if they were in charge.

The fantasizers can be heard on talk radio, read on editorial pages, and seen on Facebook and Twitter.

Worse, their schemes won’t work or they’ll come with awful side effects.

This fevered fantasizing infects everyone who has a preferred policy, political program, or ideology. But it doesn’t infect everyone. How can you tell if you’re infected?

How can you escape ideological thinking?
There is a philosophy that is not plagued by ideological thinking. It provides a pathway to make the world a better place without politicians. Do you know what it is?

Our partners at The Exit Network will also demonstrate that most people don’t accurately define the term “ideology.” Their article explains how it’s possible to be more humbly involved in politics without an ideology.

After you read this article, you’ll know both what an ideology actually is and how to avoid being trapped in the fantasy thinking of an ideologue.
