On this Indigenous Peoples’ Day, I want to recognize the twelve Indigneous tribal nations, eight reservations, and thousands of Indigenous people who call Montana home.
I take the responsibility of running for Congress, and the duty to represent and partner with the Blackfeet, Assiniboine, Crow, Chippewa, Kootenai, Cree, Gros Ventre, Little Shell Chippewa, Northern Cheyenne, Salish, Pend d'Oreille, and Sioux tribal nations very seriously.
I promise to work with our Indigenous leaders to bring attention and resources to the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women across Montana -- whose cases far too often go ignored and unsolved.
I promise to help continued COVID-19 relief efforts across the Crow, Northern Cheyenne, Fort Peck, Fort Belknap, Rocky Boy's, Blackfeet, Flathead, and Little Shell reservations, where access to medical resources can be scarce.
I promise that as your Congresswoman, I will always be a partner to our strong and sovereign Indigenous communities.
Thank you,
Monica Tranel
