Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, where we recognize the strength, vibrancy, and resiliency of all Native communities, including the 23 Tribal Nations and Pueblos in New Mexico.
As we honor the culture of Native peoples in our communities, we must also acknowledge the history of systemic barriers that have impeded unity and civic engagement.
That’s why I want to encourage you to support two pieces of legislation that I cosponsored and introduced this year: the Frank Harrison, Elizabeth Peratrovich, and Miguel Trujillo Native American Voting Rights Act of 2021 (or NAVRA), and S.2919 — a bill that would officially recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day as a federal holiday.
We have a duty to honor Indigenous peoples with the respect they deserve. Add your name to support Native American voting rights and federal recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. [[link removed]]

I’m proud of my record fighting for Native peoples in Congress, but there is still much work to do.
I believe that with enough public support, and in partnership with Tribal leaders across the country, we can work to reduce the structural barriers that face this unique and diverse community. We must do the right thing.
Con gratitud,
Ben Ray
