Dear Friend,
Today, we’re marking Indigenous Peoples’ Day by uplifting one of our partner organizations, Womxn from the Mountain.
This Colorado-based collective with national and international reach provides cultural enrichment in diverse communities including holding women circles to teach Native traditions, culture, and education to bring awareness to issues in the Native communities such as: Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, domestic violence, support for those struggling with addiction, homelessness, or mental health, support for asylum seekers, and environmental justice.
|
Womxn from the Mountain are cultural educators inclusive of all women from all backgrounds. They educate and heal communities through transformative art, talking circles, community outreach, and BIPOC womxn-led social service resources.
Co-founders Micaela Iron Shell-Dominguez and Renée Millard-Chacon believe that to transform towards a healthy future in education, media, and in our environment for future generations for girls and womxn, there needs to be an inclusive and more realistic approach to education from indigenous and BIPOC perspectives and experiences.
This means preparing the next seven generations for the social justice and environmental issues in intercultural programs and services to support our communities based on our own self determination.
|
In honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day, we hope you will join us in supporting this womxn-led collective now.
In solidarity,
Team March On
