Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 34 | October 10th, 2021 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Dear John, This week marked 45 days since Kathy Hochul was sworn in and what’s clear is that her administration is just as bad as Andrew Cuomo’s. She promised by this date to clean house, but her administration remains steeped with Cuomo loyalists and she hasn’t spent a single day, press conference, interview--or even a tweet--acknowledging the deadly nursing home scandal that left a horrible stain on our state. In fact, one of the Cuomo staffers who helped re-write the fabricated nursing home report and used his taxpayer-funded job editing Cuomo’s book is still serving as SUNY Chancellor making a whopping $450,000 a year. She continues to cover up the horrific truth of how thousands of our beloved seniors were sentenced to their deaths and the widespread criminal cover-up that ensued. Kathy Hochul is COMPLICIT. As we have done every day since the beginning, the Republican Party will not stop fighting for truth and justice for Cuomo’s victims and their families. We can’t tinker around the edges--if we are going to truly change New York, we need to elect a Republican governor. It’s time to send a huge message to the corrupt, arrogant Democrats who have destroyed our state that voters are demanding CHANGE. And we can’t just stop at the state level. Every day that goes by with Democrats in total control in Washington brings into focus just how critical the midterm elections are to saving our country. Bidenflation continues to wreak havoc on middle and working-class families and Friday’s horrendous jobs report was more evidence of our failing economy. AOC and the Squad are continuing to run the show and push for their radical $3.5 trillion tax-and-spend socialist boondoggle. Biden’s tanking poll numbers show that Americans are experiencing major buyer’s remorse and in every important category from the border to the economy to being commander-in-chief feel that Biden is doing a poor job. We are fighting hard to expose Democrats’ harmful agenda and recruit the candidates and resources we need to FIGHT back and WIN. Sincerely, Nick Langworthy NYGOP Chairman Poll of the Week: Question: How would you rate the job that Kathy Hochul has done holding disgraced Andrew Cuomo and his cronies accountable? Kathy Hochul signaled she needed 45 days to clean house by replacing appointed officials involved in scandals tied to her predecessor, Andrew Cuomo. But state Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy came to the statehouse Thursday to dispute that claim, arguing Hochul has left in place many Cuomo loyalists, including the head of the 64-campus State University system, James Malatras. Langworthy argued New Yorkers have been expecting Hochul to address the controversies surrounding the Cuomo administration's undercount of COVID-19 fatalities at nursing homes by replacing all officials who had a hand in producing a state Health Department report whose conclusions have been strongly disputed by state Attorney General Letitia James. "Kathy Hochul has talked really tough about giving the boot to everyone named in the report on sexual harassment, but she has done nothing but sweep under the rug the entire nursing home scandal," New York's top Republican said. "Malatras still enjoys her full confidence. He is sitting over there at SUNY, making $450,000 a year, but he has blood on his hands from what we know about the nursing home coverup." Watch Full Here Deadline Day: Hochul completes administration overhaul Spectrum News While she has cleaned house on certain appointments, people like State Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy says she hasn’t gone far enough, particularly when it comes to rooting out those in the administration who took part in Cuomo’s alleged cover-up of COVID-19 nursing home deaths. “Kathy Hochul should have offered a full, outside and independent investigation into the entire administration to identify and root out anyone that enabled this deadly nursing home cover-up,” Langworthy said. “You need some Senate appointments,” Langworthy questioned. “Well damn it, then bring the Senate back and make some appointments. It's called leadership. Are you afraid of the Senate?” Read Full Here Jumaane Williams gets nearly $1M in reelection matching funds — but critics claim he doesn’t need it New York Post The city’s Campaign Finance Board said Thursday that Williams is eligible to pocket $959,093 in public matching funds for his public advocate re-election campaign. But the former Brooklyn city councilman faces only token opposition in the race and is widely expected to prevail in November. Critics said Williams can instead use the money to promote himself as he mulls a run for governor. “It’s very on-brand for a self-described socialist to be milking other people’s hard-earned money, but this is exactly why taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook for funding politicians’ campaigns,” said state Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy. “We need a governor who is going to drain the Albany swamp, not be a creature of it.” Read Full Here De Blasio misused NYPD resources for political, personal purposes, DOI report finds Fox News New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio misused police resources on his security detail, a new report released Thursday by the city's Department of Investigation (DOI) says, to assist in his adult daughter's move out of Brooklyn, as well as to transport campaign staff during his presidential bid. The DOI found that the Democratic mayor misused police resources by directing members of his Executive Protection Unit (EPU) to help move his daughter, Chiara de Blasio, out of her apartment in Brooklyn in 2018. NYPD personnel helped carry furniture and an NYPD sprinter van carried her belongings to Gracie Mansion, which is the official residence of the mayor of New York City located in Manhattan. Read Full Here Pro-Trump candidate has real shot at winning Brooklyn council seat: political sources New York Post A pro-Trump Republican candidate who opposes COVID-19 vaccine mandates has a real chance of winning a City Council seat in southern Brooklyn, according to political sources in the borough. Candidate Inna Vernikov — a 37-year-old lawyer and Jewish Ukrainian native — is running against Democrat Steve Saperstein. The candidates for the 48th Council District are vying to succeed ex-Councilman Chaim Deutsch, who forfeited his seat earlier this year after getting convicted of tax fraud. The district includes many Russian-speaking and Jewish immigrants in the communities of Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach, Sheepshead Bay and Homecrest. Democrats vastly outnumber Republicans in the district — but voter registration is deceiving. Donald Trump trounced Joe Biden in the district in last year’s presidential race, which means droves of moderate-to-conservative crossed over to back the GOP incumbent.
