It was a little over 11 years ago when my life completely changed forever. Serving as a bomb technician overseas in Afghanistan, I was clearing a path for fellow soldiers when one of those bombs detonated directly beneath me - jarring my entire body, leaving my teeth rattled and tearing off my legs.
I wouldn’t come to until quite some time later in Walter Reed Army Medical Center, but before I did, under a cloud of dirt and very little moonlight on that field in Afghanistan, I remember the sight of my fellow soldiers rushing directly towards the sound of the explosion in order to give me the emergency care that ultimately saved my life.
These brave soldiers put service before self that night, and risked their lives to save me, because they were following a simple creed known to all U.S. military members: No Man Gets Left Behind.
Yet these are words that were completely forsaken recently by a bunch of politicians and bureaucrats on Pennsylvania Avenue.
The Biden Administration failed at every turn of the withdrawal from Afghanistan. And in so doing, they showed that the phrase “No Man Left Behind” means NOTHING to them by ABANDONING thousands of Americans and our allies behind enemy lines.
For veterans like myself, this was a slap in the face. Brave men and women who sacrificed so much - and the family members of those who even paid the ultimate price - were left with the gut-wrenching feeling of wondering whether or not this was all even worth it.
One thing is for certain: we need to be sure that failures like this never happen again.
With more leaders in Washington who know what it means to put AMERICA FIRST, and know first-hand that the phrase “No Man Left Behind” is NOT up for negotiation, we can ensure that fatal blunders like Joe Biden’s Afghanistan Crisis become a thing of the past!
You can bet that I’ll continue to fight like hell for accountability after Joe Biden sentenced thousands to death at the hands of the same radical terrorists who took my legs.
But in the meantime, let’s be sure we work to get more conservative veterans in office who will push BACK against these America Last catastrophes.
