Some of you may already know that October 10th is World Mental Health Day, an opportunity to destigmatize the shame surrounding mental health struggles. At The Trevor Project, we’re working to connect directly with more LGBTQ young people than ever, and to raise awareness of the unique mental health challenges that they face every day.
World Mental Health Day is also a day to reflect on our mission to support the mental health of the young LGBTQ community. Our expert staff and extensively trained counselors offer 24/7 life-saving support to LGBTQ young people anytime, anywhere — for free. When an LGBTQ young person reaches out to us in a moment of crisis, they are connecting to hope. We are here to say it’s OK to not be OK.
Stigmas surrounding LGBTQ identities and mental health struggles can prevent LGBTQ young people from seeking help. They deserve a space to express their feelings without feeling judged, and holding that space with them means we always listen with an empathetic ear.
Thank you for supporting our life-saving work. Your compassion helps us continue to be there 24/7 for LGBTQ young people when they need us the most. You are seen and deeply appreciated.
Warmly,
The Trevor Project
