Survival Sunday: October 10, 2021

Happy weekend, friends!

Survival Sunday is a round-up of the week's news and resources for
folks who are interested in being prepared. This curated collection of
information is only available to email and Patreon subscribers.

Have a great week ahead!

Daisy

A PERSONAL NOTE

Is it just me or does it seem to you like we're living in a world that
is changing almost too rapidly to keep up?

You know how you can listen to an audiobook on double speed? That's what
my newsfeed feels like. I finish reading one article and then there's
another one right behind it that says, "Whoops, that last thing was
wrong!" before I even finished processing the last thing.

I guess we've reached the point where processing the bigger picture may
be nearly impossible. We can't trust most of our news sources. We have
people running fake accounts pretending to be political leaders and
other public figures. We have others trying to scam folks out of their
last dime.

The most unsettling news I saw this week was the letter that Augason
Farms sent out to customers, telling us that they're completely closed
for the next 3 months due to supply chain issues. They're one of the
biggest emergency food suppliers in the country, and they're closing
during the 4th Quarter, widely known to be the most lucrative of the
year in retail businesses.

We've gone beyond warning bells. That's a freaking GONG. It's an
air-raid siren. It's a get-your-shiz-together NOW alert.

So what I suggest you do...

Is pause.

Reflect.

Think about what you, personally, can do.

Think about how to make your circle smaller.

Figure out what YOU personally can do to improve your circumstances.

Then, take action.

And don't forget to take moments with the ones you love, furry and
feathered and human, and cherish them. Focus on those beautiful moments
because you will be able to think about those when times are dark. Those
moments are your light at both the beginning and end of the tunnel.

That's the thing about tunnels. They can be dark and scary. They can
seem unending. But in truth, they do end. You just have to keep moving
forward to reach that point.

We WILL get through this.

STAYING UNDER THE RADAR FINANCIALLY

Let's face it: we're all being spied on. If you have more than $600
in your account, the Biden administration wants to know. They figure
they can get an extra $3 billion in taxes by knowing this.

I, for one, am sick of it. But what can we do?

If you had to leave the country, how could you take your money and not
have it seized by governments?

Gold? No. A man trying to leave Italy had his gold stolen by the
government, just because they could.

Cash? No. Drug laws. You must be guilty because you have cash. Thanks
for giving those government shills your hard-earned money!

It's YOUR money. Read how you can keep it that way.

What I'm Doing to Prep This Week

The main focus of my prepping this week is beefing up my personal
self-reliance. I have all my plants indoors except my tomato plant (I'm
still hoping for a warm spell to ripe the greenies left on the patio and
we don't have a frost coming up yet.) I harvested all my herbs and have
them drying in bundles on my little rack in my kitchen indoor garden.

This week I'll be starting to sprout and grow microgreens. I'll keep you
posted on that experiment, too.

I'm working on ways to become a little less reliant on energy, as it
appears we're going to be facing some very high prices this year for
heating fuel. I have a nice collection of cozy blankets, curtains for my
windows to keep out chilly winds, and area rugs for underfoot.

I found a walnut tree when I was out walking the dogs so I went back on
the next walk with a fabric shopping bag that I filled. Those are laying
out to dry as well and I should have at least a pound that I acquired
for free. I'm on the lookout for more foraged freebies while we explore
our new area.
