Dear Supporter,

Today is a solemn day when we lay to rest American hero, Elijah Cummings. Representative Cummings served his country with honor, integrity, and distinction for decades. He believed in what the country COULD be, even though he was a product of some of the worst parts of our nation's history. He was the son of a sharecropper, coming of age in a segregated America when his parents could neither vote or use the same bathroom as white people. Yet, he saw the beauty and the potential of our great democratic republic and knew he had to be a part of ensuring our nation's greatness. He did so with virtue and dedication that I admire beyond most any other.

I honor him by running for office as an African American woman from the South who also sees the greatness in our nation and how it needs to be protected at all costs. I have served my country and my state and helped to protect the people of America with my time as an engineer at Boeing and as a 3-term North Carolina State Senator serving district 3, and former school board member. I hope to continue that service in the United States Senate, with your help. I am committed to serving with integrity, humanity, and advocacy for equality.

Rest in Power, Elijah Cummings. Thank you for being a guardian and example of our nation's greatness.
