Last weekend, I was proud to join Marylanders and the Women’s March in a national showing of solidarity in recognition of abortion as a health care decision and the right to choose as a fundamental and constitutional right. Maryland has long recognized the right to choose, and is a national leader in protecting reproductive freedom. In 1992, Marylanders had the foresight to pass a referendum protecting abortion rights knowing there might be a day we couldn’t rely on Roe. And in 2017, Maryland became the first state to ensure clinics such as Planned Parenthood could continue to operate if federal funding restrictions were enacted.

Unfortunately, we may soon see the day where Roe is no longer the law of the land. That is why as Governor, I pledge to do anything and everything to protect the right to choose and ensure that access to reproductive care is equitable by making it more accessible and affordable.

Thank you for taking action,
John
