Did you see this, John?

A new Associated Press report found that after Oregon Republican Congressional candidate Alek Skarlatos lost his bid to unseat Rep. Peter DeFazio in 2020, he started a non-profit with $93,000 in leftover campaign funds. But that non-profit has done little to support its claimed mission to advocate for veterans, and instead sent $65,000 back to Skarlatos to start to build out his war chest for a rematch against Rep. DeFazio next fall.

With this and so many other critical races on the ballot next fall, will you chip in to the Democratic Party of Oregon? [[link removed]]

Subject: Shocking news about Republican Alek Skarlatos

John,

Republican Alek Skarlatos is in hot water.

You might remember Skarlatos from his run against Rep. Peter DeFazio in 2020, when national Republicans dumped millions into the race to try and flip the Oregon 4th. Your support helped re-elect Rep. DeFazio and fight off this challenge, but Skarlatos has already announced his plans to run again.

Now, new reporting has found that a non-profit Skarlatos started after losing the election was seeded with $93,000 in leftover campaign funds, but has done little to support its claimed mission to advocate for veterans. Instead, it's sent $65,000 back to Skarlatos to start to build out his war chest for a rematch against Rep. DeFazio next fall.

As a former lawyer for the Federal Election Commission put it: "You can't do that. There’s serious corruption potential."

Oregonians can't trust Alek Skarlatos, and we're going to do everything we can to defend Rep. DeFazio's seat and defeat Skarlatos in 2022. Will you chip in today to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot next year? [[link removed]]

This is just the latest example of how Skarlatos doesn't represent Oregon values.

In June, one report described how he "has joked multiple times about the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and has declined to comment when asked about the winner of the 2020 presidential election." He's also criticized Oregon's efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 and opposed federal funding for vaccines!

The last thing we need is another Trump loyalist in Congress who doesn't represent Oregon values. It's critically important that we defeat Skarlatos and elect Democrats all across Oregon who will fight for our shared progressive values.

That's why we're asking: Will you donate to the Democratic Party of Oregon? [[link removed]]
