Unconstitutional and Un-American Targeting of Concerned Parents & Crackdown on Freedom of Speech by Biden, U.S. Justice Department and CT Democrats


This week, in response to nationwide protests regarding divisive curriculum, unjustified mandates and an overall lack of transparency and oversight, the Biden-Harris Administration and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garlandannounced they would be targeting concerned parents as "domestic terrorists" ([link removed]) using the power of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) & Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

"A parent's concern about their children's education is not an act of terrorism. Parents have a right to make informed choices and feel comfortable speaking out on policies and decisions affecting their children's education," Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Ben Proto said.

"The Biden Justice Department's crackdown on the freedom of speech and freedom of assembly of American Citizens and parents is completely unconstitutional, and quite frankly un-American. The essence of the American government is the citizens’ ability to make their voices heard directly to elected officials," Chairman Proto continued.

Biden's call to suppress parents' civil rights follows Connecticut Senate Democrats' call for police to arrest vocal critics ([link removed]) and protesters for harassment and former Connecticut Education Commissioner, now U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona's statement that "parents should not be the primary stakeholder in their child's education." ([link removed])

Connecticut Republicans wholeheartedly disagree.

Proto continued, "Connecticut Democrats are claiming it's Republicans who 'are bringing politics into our schools and towns' when it is just the opposite. When called on the carpet for pushing a progressive agenda on our children, they have resorted to schoolyard bully tactics: name calling, threats and now legal action - anything to chill their critics."

Proto concluded, "The truth is that Democrats want to control our schools from Hartford. They don't want to hear from anyone who disagrees with their Far-Left agenda to regionalize schools, eliminate local control, and literally take the home out of 'home rule.'"
