Friends,
A few weeks ago, our campaign sent a survey asking about the issues that matter most to you.
Of the two dozen options, you selected four as the most critical for our state: Protecting the Environment, Access to Affordable Healthcare, Preventing Gun Violence, and Protecting Voting Rights.
AG Josh Stein has been fighting for all of these issues, and we wanted to take just a minute and explain his work so far.
Protecting the Environment. Since Josh was sworn in as Attorney General, he has fought to stop offshore drilling on our coastlines, and held Duke Energy accountable for improper disposal of coal ash in our communities. In federal court, Josh has defended the Clean Power Plan and the Clean Car Standards to fight the climate crisis.
Access to Affordable Healthcare. Josh has been on the front lines of the fight to protect the Affordable Care Act, speaking out for and defending in court our right to affordable healthcare. He is also the nation's first AG to sue JUUL for intentionally marketing e-cigarettes to children.
Preventing Gun Violence. North Carolina’s legislature has not passed gun safety legislation since 2015. Josh urges the General Assembly to enact universal background checks and other common sense gun legislation. He also has gone to court to fight against illegal plastic guns.
Protecting Voting Rights. From day one, Josh has worked to make sure every person’s voice is heard in our democracy. He opposed gerrymandering in state court, which ordered new voting maps for the state legislature ahead of the 2020 elections. Josh also successfully opposed an effort to reinstate North Carolina's anti-voter law that a panel of federal judges unanimously wrote targeted African Americans with "almost surgical precision."
AG Stein is proud of his work so far and excited to keep working for our state.
With your voice and support, we will continue to move forward for a better North Carolina.
Together,
Team Stein
