"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
- Galatians 6:9
Africa & Europe
Praise God for the successful launch of a Marine Police boat patrol project in Ghana. Until now, there has been no law enforcement presence on Lake Volta. While police stations exist in towns around the lake, a multitude of inaccessible banks and islands are cut off from police assistance, creating a vacuum where human trafficking can proliferate unrestrained. IJM will facilitate classroom trainings for the next few weeks and then begin coaching trainees in conducting active investigations on the lake. Pray that this new initiative would be successful in finding the victims of child trafficking who are most difficult to uncover.
Latin America
Please pray for justice to be upheld in a case being supported by our IJM Bolivia team. Since 2010, the team has worked on a case involving the sexual assault of an 11-year-old boy. In 2020, a court sentenced the aggressor with the maximum sentence for this type of crime, 25 years. Although this verdict was a huge praise, by law the aggressor could appeal the sentence. Pray that if an appeal is presented, the court would stand by the survivor and uphold the sentence.
South Asia
Please pray for creativity and inspiration for survivor leaders as they find ways to serve their communities. We are so amazed by countless survivors of trafficking who have stepped up to defend others in need through raising awareness, promoting livelihood options and counseling other victims. This has been an especially difficult year for them, as many local communities are still recovering from COVID-19 surges and extreme weather. Pray we can support our incredible survivor leaders well and think of great solutions for helping their communities thrive again.
Southeast Asia
Praise God for the successful rescue of four children from online sexual exploitation! Last week, the Philippine National Police-Women and Children Protection Center-Transnational Crime Investigation Task Force (PNP-WCPC-TCITF), with the remote support of IJM Philippines, conducted an operation that resulted in the rescue of four children, ages 9, 5, 2, and 9 months. One suspect, who is the biological uncle of the survivors, has been arrested, and aftercare and legal interventions are being provided to the children. Please continue to pray for healing and resources for these children! Pray that the appropriate criminal charges will be made swiftly against the suspect.
IJM Global Office & Partners
IJM global office is located in the United States. IJM has Partner Offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, South Korea, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Please join us in praying for our upcoming Virtual Justice Gathering on October 12. As donors gather virtually from across the country, pray that they will be able to engage more fully in the vision of IJM for the next decade. Praise the Lord for technology that allows for the shift to a virtual meeting!
The updates we share on survivors or their cases can become sensitive over time. To respect and protect
them, please refrain from posting these prayer requests online.
