Dear John, Last week, in a victory for taxpayers, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pulled a key vote on President Biden’s radical and wasteful infrastructure scheme because it lacked the votes to pass. The legislation was originally scheduled for a vote on Thursday. Negotiations continued into late Friday until Pelosi abandoned the bill and sent the House of Representatives on a two-week vacation. I would like to thank CCAGW’s members and supporters for sending more than 5,000 letters to the House last week and more than 50,000 letters to Congress this year opposing Biden’s infrastructure bill. Your participation has been critical to slowing down and eventually defeating this absolutely unaffordable and un-American proposal. This bill would have spent more than $1.2 TRILLION, with only $500 billion allocated for roads, bridges, and other traditional infrastructure projects. Worse still, the legislation would have opened the door for passage of the Democrats’ massive $3.5 TRILLION “human infrastructure” bill. This would stand as the largest increase in federal spending and government power in U.S. history. As important as this victory was, the fight is still not over. We can expect Speaker Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Schumer, and President Biden to double-down and push even harder to pass this expensive scheme. Time has shown that despite widespread opposition, they will not stop working to get the most expensive legislation this country has ever seen through Congress and signed into law. We will be calling on your help in the future to help stop this massive expansion in the size, scope, and power of the federal government. There are also two ways that you can help right now to continue this momentum. First, if you have not already done so, please take part in our Action Alert campaign and demand that Congress stops Biden’s $4.7 trillion in new spending. Second, please consider making a financial contribution to CCAGW to help us continue our campaign to stop Biden’s outrageously expensive legislation from becoming law. Thank you again for helping us in the fight to save America from bankruptcy! Sincerely, Deborah Collier Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs |
