Dear
Friend
--
We hit a major milestone today with 80% of adults in Long Beach
vaccinated against COVID-19. This accomplishment is thanks to the
efforts of our dedicated Health Department, community medical partners
and everyone who has made it a priority to get vaccinated. Having 80%
of adults in our city vaccinated is a huge success for the health of
our community, and it is a major step towards ending this pandemic
once and for all.
Last week, the City of Long Beach also joined organizations across
the region and the state in requiring proof of full vaccination for
our employees. This policy will help to keep our city workers and the
community we serve safe. Long Beach has also implemented a vaccination
requirement to enter indoor bars and nightclubs as we continue to
encourage vaccinations for every eligible member of our community.
Being fully vaccinated is safe, effective and the best way to
protect yourself and others from COVID-19, including its variants. As
we continue our work to provide first doses to community members, Long
Beach is also making
Pfizer boosters available to individuals over 65 and in certain
high-risk professions. Those receiving their booster must have gotten
their second Pfizer dose at least 6 months ago.
For assistance and information about our vaccination locations and
hours of operation, visit longbeach.gov/vaxlb or
call 562-570-4636.
Thank you and Go Long Beach,
Mayor Robert Garcia
