Dear Friend --
Ranked choice voting is making great progress, and FairVote is embracing its role as a national voice for ranked choice voting and a reform leader.
It’s an important time for ranked choice voting as voters are looking for a way to solve our country’s most complex problems, and it all begins with the ballot. We need to build a strong team for success, and have identified key new positions <[link removed]> to help take ranked choice voting to the next level!

Here’s a few exciting things happening:
- New York City, our largest city, will vote on whether to adopt ranked choice voting on Nov 5. It has support from across the political spectrum.
- Maine will use ranked ballots in November 2020 in its elections for president, U.S. Senate and U.S. House in hotly contested races expecting to need “instant runoffs.”
- Voters in five cities in Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico and Utah will use RCV for the first time, as well as six others cities. That’s the most RCV elections in our nation’s history.
- Advocates have launched smart, well-financed campaigns in Massachusetts and Alaska to place RCV on the ballot in 2020, and we expect more cities to adopt it.
- The Democratic Parties of Alaska, Hawaii, Kansas and Wyoming will hold their presidential primaries using ranked ballots next spring. FairVote will be deeply involved in voter education in these states, and we believe all parties may use RCV ballots for president in 2024.
We are ready to add several key positions including directors of communication and advocacy to an already great team. Below is a summary of the positions we need your help to fill -- by putting your own hat in the ring, or making sure our announcements get to the right people who want to help us make history.
