BY CARRIE N. BAKER | On Monday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a final rule reversing the Trump administration’s policy prohibiting healthcare providers who receive Title X funds from informing patients about the full range of reproductive healthcare options, including abortion. The new HHS rule also includes modifications to strengthen Title X and expand access to equitable, affordable, high-quality patient-centered health services.
“The end of the Title X gag rule is a major victory for patients, access to sexual and reproductive healthcare and health equity,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
