Dear Friend,
I hope you’re doing well during these uncertain times. It’s sometimes hard to imagine that there will be better, less anxious days ahead.
Fortunately for us at Progressive Maryland, we have supporters and caring people like you who have helped us get through this sad and challenging time. You lift our spirits. You fuel our determination to fight for the compassionate and community-centered COVID response that workers, families, schools, and everyone who has been affected by the virus needs. Thank you. You also remind us that there is still much for which to be grateful.
We thought this would be a good time to connect with you and share some updates as we begin this fall weekend and final stretch of 2021.
We’re working hard to win a federal budget that funds some of the most critical needs our country faces. A budget plan that will address some of the biggest systemic disparities and deficiencies that the pandemic exposed. The Build Back Better Act will invest in programs and policies like expanded Medicare, lower prescription drug costs, less expensive child care, affordable housing, and overdue action on climate and creating a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who call this country home.
We’re increasing our organizing and visibility. --Our volunteer leaders have created new regional and local PM chapters. --They’re guiding our Healthcare, Drug Policy, Fair Elections and Justice task forces. --PM’s leaders and activists are involved with some new organizing efforts that we’ve embarked on like deep canvassing and Throw Back Thursdays --Grassroots leaders have been adding their voices at several important Forums and gatherings all year long, like our Stories From The Overdose Crisis event and the Anton’s Law Town Hall. In the past few weeks they’ve participated in a number of direct actions, press conferences and meetings with elected officials, all to help Build Back Better.
We need to keep up the work! This is a crucial time for us to strengthen our multi-racial, multi-issue, multi-faceted movement. Will you please join us? Become a member of Progressive Maryland -- your financial support of just $5 or $10 or $15 a month is absolutely essential. Members help us bring the positive changes our communities and our state needs.
Many thanks.
In Solidarity, Larry Stafford, Executive Director of Progressive Maryland
