The Republican State Leadership Committee sent a fundraising email calling us out after we “spent MILLIONS of dollars in Texas for Democrats in the 2018 election and took seats from Republicans.”

The GOP is raising millions right now to protect their majorities in most state houses across the country ahead of the census and subsequent redistricting process, which will redraw all our electoral maps and cement the political landscape for the next decade.

Republicans get it: State legislatures are key levers for preserving their political power through gerrymandering. They are outraising and outspending us in this critical space recognizing just how consequential redistricting will be for the future—creating a massive resource gap for Democrats.

With your support, we can fight to close this resource gap and retake key GOP-held state legislative chambers ahead of redistricting to stop Republican gerrymandering in its tracks.

While the RSLC might be scared of us, we’re not afraid of them. For the past two years, we’ve been taking on the toughest GOP-held turf to help expand the map and secure majorities for Democrats in state chambers that are key levers to unlock voter suppression and gerrymandering in battleground states.

We have a pathway to winning back power in the Texas State House. We’re only 9 seats away from taking back the chamber in 2020, breaking the GOP’s trifecta of control over the state, and halting any Republican attempt to gerrymander the state’s 36+ congressional districts in 2021.
