In a few
moments, [ [link removed] ]we’re going to ask you to chip in any amount toward Pramila’s
continued fight in Congress for the Build Back Better Act that makes
long-overdue investments in working people, families, and our communities.
But before we do, we wanted to highlight what the Huffington Post just
said about Pramila and the power of our progressive movement:
[ [link removed] ]Huffington Post headline reads: How Rep. Pramila Jayapal Turned The
Progressive Caucus Into A Powerful Force
“Last week, something unusual happened: The Congressional Progressive
Caucus won a clear, if temporary, victory against the more conservative
members of the House Democratic Caucus.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) conceded to pressure from the
Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) on Sept. 30 when she delayed a
promised vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill favored by
conservative Democrats.
The House’s 96-person progressive bloc, once dismissed as too large and
ideologically inchoate to wield real power, had made clear that it had
the votes to tank the infrastructure bill, pending firmer guarantees
about the passage of the more progressive Build Back Better budget
reconciliation package.”
Pramila first ran for office because she didn’t see enough leaders
prioritizing the issues that impacted her community the most — the
debilitating cost of health care, a lack of safe and affordable housing,
our inhumane immigration system, a failure to support workers and their
families, a lack of urgently needed climate action, and the systemic
racism that compounds all of these issues.
And together, we built a people-first movement to send her to Congress —
backed by small-dollar contributions from supporters just like you, not
the corporate interests who already wield far too much power on Capitol
Hill. We did so because we knew Pramila would meet any challenge with the
kind of compassionate, people-first leadership her district — and the
entire country — deserves. And now, we have a real champion fighting for
us in the halls of Congress.
[ [link removed] ]If you’re still with Pramila in the fight for progressive change that
lifts up working people and our communities, can you chip in
$3 or any amount right now to fuel her push for President
Biden’s Build Back Better Act? Every dollar puts our movement in a
stronger position for the make-or-break work ahead:
