[1]Bowman for Congress

John,

Yesterday, our team got word that a challenger officially filed with the
FEC to run against Jamaal for our seat in Congress.

While this is the first challenger that has entered the race, it certainly
won't be the last. Incumbents like Jamaal are the most vulnerable in their
first term, and keeping Jamaal's seat won't be an easy fight. We need to
be ready and able to respond to anything coming our way.

[ [link removed] ]Let's show Jamaal's challenger that our progressive movement and the
values we've worked so hard to fight for aren't going anywhere. To show
this — and to ensure we have the resources to properly react to this
challenge and others — we've set a goal to raise $20,000 over the next 48
hours. We're halfway to the deadline, and we still need your support. Will
you please rush $3 to our campaign?

Jamaal getting a challenger in his first term isn't as uncommon as it may
seem, John.
Last election cycle, we saw the exact same thing with the Squad,
specifically with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida
Tlaib — right towards the end of their first terms in Congress.

After Alexandria, Ilhan, and Rashida won their seats in 2018, many
questioned whether or not they'd be able to win again. They faced
challenges from political establishment insurgents and Republicans who
used every trick in the book, from netting millions of dollars in
donations from dark money sources and unleashing attack ads.

And while all three managed to win re-election, the fact still remains:
last cycle, 88% of congressional races were won by the candidate who
raised more money. It's likely to be the same news this upcoming election
year around.

[ [link removed] ]John, we
rely on every dollar that comes through the door to power our movement, to
ensure Jamaal can keep fighting for us in Congress, and that our movement
continues to grow. Please chip in $3 or whatever you can
today to our campaign.

Thanks,

Luke Hayes, Campaign Manager
