John —
When I learned about the murder of Paul Howell, I thought it was a horrible tragedy and was saddened for his family. My family and I were home that night. We’d eaten a spaghetti dinner, the kids were playing games, and I was getting ready to take my older son to work an overnight shift.
So, when Julius was arrested and later convicted of Paul Howell's murder, I was shocked, because I knew he had been at home with me. Just a few days earlier, we were celebrating his 19th birthday. And now, 22 years later, my son is set to be executed for a crime I know he did not commit.
In a little over a month — on Nov. 18 — I could lose my son, unless Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt intervenes.
Gov. Stitt has the power to stop Julius’ execution, but to get him to do the right thing, we need him to hear from as many people as possible. Will you please contact the governor right now and ask him to save my son’s life and grant him clemency?

I empathize with the Howell family and I know they have experienced terrible suffering. At the same time, I want the governor and the people of Oklahoma to understand that the system got it wrong and should not punish Julius any further for a crime someone else committed. My family has suffered and continues to suffer immensely because of this miscarriage of justice.
If the state of Oklahoma kills my son, it will not bring Paul Howell justice. It will simply create another tragedy: The killing of a second innocent man.
I pray every day for the Howell family to be healed and that the person responsible for their son’s murder will be held accountable. And I pray that Gov. Stitt sees the truth and recognizes that real justice means releasing my son from death row and starting to correct the horrible mistake that has been made by our criminal justice system.
So please, take a moment today to contact Gov. Stitt and tell him to grant my son Julius clemency.
Thank you so much,
Madeline Davis-Jones
