Folks,

Earlier this week at a committee hearing, Ben Ray questioned former Facebook employee and whistleblower Frances Haugen, who revealed startling and concerning research that Facebook conducts internally and refuses to release to the public.

This includes studies like how Instagram harms teens, particularly around body image issues, and disproportionately impacts women who use the app.

Additionally, Haugen confirmed that Facebook has conducted extensive research on young children under the age of 13. We don’t know if the research is for public safety or to find ways to market products to these users — but we do know the role Facebook has played in allowing false and incendiary content to increase political divisions all to pad their bottom line.

It’s unconscionable that Facebook would do this and refuse to release this data to the public.

We need to know what’s going on at Facebook. Can you make a contribution to support this critical work, help keep Ben Ray in the Senate, and hold Big Tech accountable?

Transparency at Facebook is a matter of public safety, consumer protection, and essential for our democracy. But they’re about as transparent as mud, and that needs to change.

Thank you for your support.
