This election isn't about a single person.
We endorsed Nikkita Oliver for Seattle City Council Position 9 and Nicole Thomas-Kennedy for Seattle City Attorney -- and this election is about so much more than them. They've said this themselves. It's about you. It's about your neighbor. It's stemming the tide of violence this City and its ruling class has waged against a colonized People. It's about building power, together, to achieve Housing for All, Medicare for All, Stopping the Sweeps, Defunding the Police, Land Back, Living Wages, No New Youth Jail, and Universal Childcare. These aren't radical demands. What's radical is seeing all the harm caused in this city by landlords, by bosses, by police -- during a global crisis -- and not doing a damn thing. What's radical is that those forces need us (our rent, our labor, our bodies) but we don't need them.
So let's do something! Those five people you thought of earlier. Let's get them involved in organizing -- not just to elect Nikkita Oliver but also build our ability to take action together. For Housing justice, for Immigrant justice, for Prisoner justice, for Racial Justice in a society that isolates us to individual action and petition. If you don't have time, someone you know might. We also need to dig in and be comfortable talking with our circles.
