Donald Trump is holding a rally in Iowa tomorrow, effectively beginning his 2024 presidential run. And, although it is impossible to fathom, he’s more popular there than ever:

Make no mistake about it — Donald Trump is almost certainly running for president in 2024. His Iowa rally all but confirms it.

This week, The Washington Post reported Trump is constantly telling his inner circle “I’m running” — and it’s only a matter of time until he announces it publicly. He’s fundraising at the same frenetic pace as 2020, building a new political apparatus, and amassing more than $100 million in campaign funds for his next run.

Our democracy barely survived Trump’s first-term assault on the Constitution and rule of law. It may not survive a second.

With Trump’s first Iowa rally of the 2024 election less than 24 hours away, we need to prepare right now to defeat him convincingly. Will you contribute $10 or $25 to help ensure Democrats maintain control of Congress next year? We cannot let Trump win.

He’s out for revenge, and that spells trouble for Democrats if we don’t mount a strong defense of our majorities in the midterms. Trump is galvanizing his cult following by endorsing far-right GOP candidates for battleground races and clearing the field of Republican primary challengers for the presidential nomination.

We can’t let Trump build the momentum for a third presidential run without a fight. If we fail to take this seriously, we’ll be giving him a bigger head start for the White House than any candidate ever — because in the modern history of the United States, no one-term president has ever pivoted for another White House run after suffering the kind of ignominious defeat the way that Trump did.

This isn’t just about 2024 — it’s about whether we’ll have what it takes to keep our majorities in the midterms to prevent a Republican-controlled Congress from overturning the 2024 presidential election if they lose. And it’s about whether we’ll be able to preserve our democracy.
