I'm the only woman of color in Congressional leadership, friend.

Some call that progress, and it is, but I call it lonely. It's clear we can and must do better.

2018 was the Year of Women of Color. We turned out progressive voters all across the country to help elect a record number of women of color to Congress, including Lucy McBath, Lauren Underwood, Jahana Hayes, Ayanna Pressley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and more.

We changed the perception of what a leader could look like. We broke barriers. We challenged stereotypes. And we were unapologetically progressive in our fight.

But Trump continues to diminish the accomplishments of women of color with the vile, disgusting, and racist things that come out of his mouth.

So, I'm standing up for my sisters in Congress.

I'm fighting like heck to protect our congresswomen of color and elect even more of them. If you're with me, one of the most important ways you can help me fight back is by pitching in $5 or more now to keep me on the campaign trail in vulnerable districts.

The strength of our party and our country lies in our diversity. Let's do everything we can to elect more inspiring women of color to office and keep moving forward toward equal representation in our government and leadership.

In solidarity,

Barbara Lee
