# [#] John, the Philadelphia Board of Education has officially begun its search for a new superintendent to begin at the start of next school year.
As your Councilmember, it’s my priority to ensure the well-being and safety of all students and teachers — this drives my commitment to requiring the city to inspect mold and asbestos in Philly’s public schools.
To meet the urgency of this moment, our new superintendent must be ready to prioritize this critical issue, as well as many others. Will you take my survey to let me know what you’d like our new superintendent to focus on next year to improve Philadelphia’s public schools? [[link removed]]

School should be a safe space for students and teachers. Unfortunately, drastic inequities exist among Philly’s public schools, making it so some students and teachers have access to more resources than others.
Additionally, school building conditions vary greatly across our city. This disproportionately impacts our Black and Brown students, as well as students with disabilities.
It’s long past time to take action to improve Philadelphia’s schools. I’m committed to continuing my work on Council towards a future where every school in Philly has the resources and proper building conditions for students and teachers to thrive.
Now I want to hear from you, John. Take my survey to share your thoughts on the improvements that you’d like to see made to Philadelphia’s school system. [[link removed]]

I look forward to working with our new superintendent next year to create a better future for Philadelphia’s public schools.
