John,
In June, Governor Greg Abbott signed a Draconian abortion-ban into law in Texas , and reproductive rights activists have been ringing the alarm ever since.
On October 7th, Judge Robert Pitman halted the law, calling it “flagrantly unconstitutional,” and saying “The American legal system cannot abide a situation where constitutional rights are only as good as the states allow.”
However, even with the halt to the enforcement of S.B. 08, abortion providers could still face retroactive lawsuits without a permanent decision in favor of reproductive rights AND this will go to the Supreme Court.
We need you to make your voice heard. Sign our petition calling on the Supreme Court to do the right thing, and reaffirm the Roe v. Wade precedent! [[link removed]]MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD [[link removed]]
The precedent set by Roe v. Wade more than 47 years ago made it clear: the right to a safe abortion is a human right.
We don’t have time to wait around while red state governors are forcing women to relinquish control over their bodies, we need to take action now.
Help us protect the Senate Democratic majority and make sure we have a Supreme court that will choose human rights over partisan politics.
Sign our petition and make a statement that we’ll be dropping at the Supreme Court personally: it’s time to affirm, once and for all, that women deserve control over their bodies! [[link removed]]
Thank you for taking a stand,
