Folks,

This week, a major break in an oil pipeline off the coast of California caused over 125,000 gallons of oil to flood into the Pacific Ocean, causing severe damage to Southern California’s coastline and endangering wildlife.

This is exactly why we need to transition away from fossil fuels and embrace clean, renewable energy — and fast. Science tells us that there is a limited window for us to act and mitigate the worst effects of climate change, and that’s exactly why I’m fighting for bold climate investments in the Build Back Better Act.

If you’re with me, add your name to my petition calling for critical investments in environmental restoration and clean energy production in the upcoming reconciliation bill. We must act on climate before more preventable disasters wreak havoc on our environment and communities.

This year, I've introduced the Environmental Justice Act and Environmental Justice Legacy Pollution Cleanup Act, which would collectively invest hundreds of billions of dollars in addressing the climate crisis and its disproportionate effects on communities of color.

This reconciliation package is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to pass essential climate solutions. It’s one of the reasons why I’m doing everything I can to ensure the infrastructure and reconciliation bills pass together.

The California oil spill created an over 13-square-mile slick and is devastating ecological reserves, causing damage to wildlife and natural habitats. We can’t let this happen again.

Add your name to my petition urging Congress to include necessary clean energy investments and climate measures focused on environmental restoration. We need to protect the environment at all costs because it’s the only one we have.
