New York City’s storied history as a center for progressive change doesn’t preclude us from our share of dangerous cranks.
For decades, one of those cranks has been the president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, Ed Mullins.
During his tenure, Mullins:
✖️ Spewed racist rhetoric towards residents of New York City
✖️ Referred to the city health commissioner as a “bitch”
✖️ Called me, the first openly LGBTQ+ Afro-Latino elected to Congress, a “first-class whore”
But just this week, Ed Mullins resigned from his position after being raided by the FBI.
First, let’s be clear: This is a good step forward for our city.
But the toxic culture that Ed Mullins fostered in every organization he touched lives on, with or without him.
People like Ed Mullins have wanted to take me down from the minute I stepped into the halls of Congress because they know I am a threat to the status quo.
Since I don't accept a single penny from dark-money super PACs, they have every financial advantage. That’s why I have to ask you — If you can, will you send in a donation to support my campaign for Congress? It’s going to take all of us to create the change we need »
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thank you,
Ritchie
