John,
What’s unfolding right now in Idaho shows how fragile our democracy is at this moment. Idaho’s Governor left the state to attend a fear-mongering stunt at the US-Mexico border, leaving the Lt. Governor in charge.
With her newfound power, Lt. Gov Janice McGeachin issued an executive order banning vaccine mandates and testing requirements for the unvaccinated. Her executive order targets schools trying to prevent the spread of COVID-19. McGeachin also tried to deploy the national guard to the southern border.
The Governor of the state is now claiming that the Lt. Gov. does not have the authority to do any of this.
Idaho is now in chaos, people don’t know who holds the authority of the Governor’s office and efforts to help save lives from COVID are worse off.
How does this relate to voting rights? People like Janice McGeachin don’t represent a fringe segment of the GOP. Her views and actions are mainstream among Republicans, and she’s trying to subvert the Governor’s power by moving radically to the right. She is picking fights with Governor Little because she knows she will win.
McGeachin wants to ban vaccine mandates, testing requirements for unvaccinated people all while scapegoating immigrants. Imagine what she’ll do for voting rights.
Donald Trump, Janice McGeachin, Marjorie Taylor Greene. These are the faces of the new GOP. Can you chip in $25 to support our direct voter contact program to stop radical Republicans from winning more elections?

Vote From Home
------------
Vote From Home is a grassroots movement that's fighting to expand vote-by-mail. We helped thousands of Democrats vote safely from home in Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina and Georgia in 2020 and 2021. Now we're focused on stopping politicians and legislation who are making it harder for Americans to vote by mail. Please forward this email if you know someone who may be interested. Our average gift is just under $21 so consider donating that today to support voting rights: [link removed]
