Did you see the video of Trump’s latest campaign rally, John?

In support of Trump’s racist, xenophobic attacks against the Squad earlier this week, his crowd of supporters began a new chant: instead of “lock her up,” they yelled “send her back.” Meaning, send Ilhan Omar back “where she came from.”

It gave me chills. No exaggeration, John. It’s the kind of ugly, mindless hatred that permeated in the days of Nazi Germany. And despite what Trump said yesterday -- that he didn’t approve of the chants -- the video shows the truth: he revelled in their chants of animosity and racism toward a progressive, Muslim, American woman serving in Congress.

Ilhan responded gracefully with a wise and powerful poem from Maya Angelou:

As long as Trump continues to promote and inspire hatred from the White House, especially targeting women of color like Ilhan, we cannot let up for a single moment.

Stand with Ilhan today by pitching in $10 or more to fight back and win with our progressive values, and we’ll send you a FREE mini poster featuring Ilhan invoking Maya Angelou’s powerful quote >>

PITCH in $10

DFA has stood proudly with Ilhan since the day we endorsed her early on in her groundbreaking campaign for Congress, and we’ll continue to support her, the Squad, and other progressive leaders who are unafraid of fighting back against Trump and the far-right’s dangerous hatred. As long as we continue to stand together, as Ilhan said, we will rise above this dark time in our country. We must.

Thanks for standing with us,

Charles
