I wanted to quickly reach out today and give you an update on where we stand in Congress on the two cornerstones of President Biden’s and progressive Democrats’ economic agenda — the bi-partisan infrastructure bill and the Build Back Better reconciliation package.

I stand with President Biden and progressive Democrats in Congress, and am committed to passing BOTH pieces of legislation.

These two bills represent an opportunity to make a once in a generation investment in both the physical and human infrastructure of this country, and we cannot let it go to waste.

In the Build Back Better package: It’s a critical opportunity to save our planet from climate catastrophe, a chance to make the child tax credit permanent and end child poverty, to finally reduce the crushing price of prescription drugs, to join every other industrialized nation on earth in offering paid family and medical leave, and to pay for it by making billionaires and powerful corporations pay their fair share.

In the infrastructure bill: It’s roads and bridges, clean water, and at least $100 million for broadband deployment in Vermont, just to name a few pieces of the bill.

These two pieces of legislation will go a long way toward helping families deal with everyday challenges, building safer and stronger communities, and saving our planet, all while creating millions of good-paying jobs all across the country.

I’ve spent most of my life in public service to help try to make people’s lives better, and what we have right now is a once in a generation opportunity — not seen since the time of FDR and the New Deal — to do exactly that.

I am all in to get it done — but I can’t do it alone. So I’m asking you directly:

Add your name to my petition if you agree we must pass these bills without delay. For the future of our country and of our planet, we must act.
