As you know, there is a lot happening in Washington right now.

But amidst all of the back-and-forth, I wanted to reach out with an update on where things stand regarding an important issue: the debt ceiling.

Mitch McConnell, a longtime proponent of raising the debt ceiling when his party is in charge (in just the last four years, Republicans raised the debt ceiling three times) is now refusing to negotiate with Democrats. In other words, the GOP -- the so-called party of fiscal responsibility -- has spent the last four years running up the tab and now refuses to pay the bill, or even so much as lift one finger to support families in need.

Let’s show Republicans in Congress that we see right through their dangerous, reckless tactics, and that we deserve better.
