This week, Senate Democrats introduced the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. This landmark bill will restore critical components of the 1965 Voting Rights Act and stop the tidal wave of voter suppression and anti-democratic state laws passed by Republicans.

Will you join me and demand that the Senate pass the Democratic bill to save voting rights?

I want to be clear about what's going on here: Republican state legislatures across the country have been waging despicable attacks on the right to vote -- the very core of our democracy.

But the right to vote is the most sacred right in our democracy. I refuse to sit back and let Republicans erode our democracy as we know it, which is why passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is a top priority for me.

This will be an uphill battle. And we've never won an uphill battle without the committed support of every one of our supporters -- including you.

I've asked for you to take action before to defend voting rights -- and today I'm asking you again. Voting rights must be protected at the federal level, and we need to act quickly while showing that we have the support of the American people behind us.
