John,
On October 14th, a former chairman of the Colorado Republican Party will be disbarred. Ryan Call, two-term chairman from 2011 to 2015, admitted to stealing almost $280,000 from a PAC formed to support Donald Trump.
In a series of 37 transactions over a 29-month period, Call transferred $278,169 to himself from the pro-Trump Rebuilding America Now PAC. Additionally, he entered a secret contract with the PAC to pay him $5,000 a month. That's not where the admissions end, though, as he admitted to paying himself $10,000 as a "bonus for the election results" of 2016, as well as other incidents.
Under Call's chairmanship, the Colorado Republican Party won major statewide offices, including unseating an incumbent U.S. senator and taking control of the state Senate after a decade in the minority. Needless to say, Call was in an extraordinarily powerful position, and, as we see so often from the Republican side, he used it for his own financial gain.
We need to remember that, in situations like these, it's not just the one crime that has occurred. People like Call take everything they can get, whether it's for financial gain for themselves or political gain for their side. As the chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, Call undoubtedly had many opportunities to do things both illegal and immoral. And, with his admissions surrounding the Rebuilding America Now PAC in mind, it's very likely that he didn't pass on all of those opportunities.
The realm of politics is an unending struggle to put integrity in the place of malice. That's exactly what we're here for. Just in the last year, we have put all the money we've raised towards unseating those that need to be replaced. We're proud to be doing a huge part in making Colorado and the nation a better place. We would love for you to join us in that fight.
