Yet Republican state legislators have passed a spate of new laws this year that make it harder for Americans to vote and, chillingly, make it easier for states to overturn their own election results (like Trump has been pushing for.

To save our democracy, we need to pass legally binding reforms well before the next election. The Freedom to Vote Act, led by Minnesota’s own Senator Klobuchar, is the key to getting it done.

The Freedom to Vote Act includes a set of commonsense reforms that will protect our democracy. It would end partisan gerrymandering, prevent state-level subversion of elections, and establish national voting standards.

Importantly, it would also create a national standard for voter ID, obliterating Republicans’ false claims of voter fraud.

Dean has been fighting for democracy reforms like this from the day he arrived in Congress, and his experience in the House chamber during the January 6 insurrection renewed his resolve.
