World Mental Health Day image

World Mental Health Day is held on every 10 October.??The theme for 2021 is Mental Health in an Unequal World.? The last couple of years have see inequalities increase.? Although more people are talking about mental health, the stigma and discrimination against those with mental health issues is still widespread.??

Every October a small group who are passionate about improving the lives of people living with mental health issues in Nottingham come together to organise Nottingham's Mental Health Awareness Weeks [ [link removed] ].??This year, events will be taking place between 11-22 October 2021.? Every Mind Matters

For this year?s World Mental Health Day the Better Health - Every Mind Matters campaign is focusing on ?What works for me?, demonstrating how different actions can help us with our mental wellbeing, with a variety of simple tips offered by the NHS endorsed Mind Plan quiz [ [link removed] ] that shows ?there are little things we can all do to look after our mental health?.

The Every Mind Matters website showcases simple NHS endorsed practical tips from sufferers and videos from experts on dealing with COVID-19 [ [link removed] ], stress [ [link removed] ] and anxiety [ [link removed] ], boosting your mood [ [link removed] ], sleeping [ [link removed] ] better and what you can do to help others.

Nott Alone young people's mental health website has launched

NottAlone

Nott Alone [ [link removed] ] is a website with local mental health advice?and help for young people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, all in one place. If you are aged under 25, are a parent or carer, or a professional that supports young people, you can find information, advice and where to go to get help locally.

Nottinghamshire Crisis Sanctuaries are open to anyone over 18 who feels they are in, or near, a mental health crisis and need a safe space to talk.

Support is also provided via telephone or through video calling platforms for those who are unable to attend in person.

GreenSpace, our green social prescribing programme

GreenSpace

Green social prescribing is a way of connecting people to nature-based activities and green groups, projects and schemes in their local community for support with health and wellbeing. Often this will be through a referral from a Link Worker based at a GP practice or another primary care professional. ?

Our scheme in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, called GreenSpace [ [link removed] ], is all about improving people?s mental health. Green providers, social prescribers, voluntary organisations and community initiatives will help connect many more people with nature-based activities, helping everyone to feel better

Walktober invites you into a world of outdoor adventure

Walktober

Walktober is a month-long campaign by Go Jauntly to encourage people to walk every day in October.

Go Jauntly is a free community-based walking app, and the?month-long Walktober walking challenge?is part of a *new Challenges feature* [ [link removed] ]. All users need to do is treat themselves to a walk every day in October (10 minutes totally counts).

With autumn now upon us, nights drawing in and the weather getting chillier, it?s essential to get outside for a daily walk if you can. Whether it?s a short walk to school, a jaunt to your local pub or a lengthier hike, they all make a difference.

GreenSpace? [ [link removed] ]wants people to enjoy the associated mental and physical benefits of being outside and?plans to work?with Go Jauntly to?develop local walks.
