When Georgia Democrats beat the odds by electing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in November and then flipping the Senate this January, we sent Republicans fuming. They passed a draconian new voter suppression bill in response — and this November will be the first real test of the new law.
Here are just a few of the changes that will be in place in this year’s election:
Some voters must include a photocopy of their ID in order to vote by mail.
The cut-off date for requesting absentee ballots is sooner.
There will be significantly fewer ballot drop boxes available.
Mobile voting locations are restricted to emergency use only.
Giving food or water to people waiting in line is now BANNED — even if they’re elderly and have been waiting for hours and hours

Republicans can try as hard as they want to suppress our vote, but the reality is that Georgia is becoming bluer every single day — we just need to make sure folks actually get to cast their ballots!
This year, our get out the vote efforts will be more important than ever. And we’ll also have to educate voters about all the new changes Republicans have implemented so that no one is caught by surprise on Election Day.
