“Voters Had Their Say. Partisans Ignored Them.”

John -- it's a pattern we're seeing everywhere from Georgia to Ohio to Texas. Voters are divided almost in half between the parties. But Republicans want more power. So they gerrymander the maps to get it.

Georgia elected a Democratic president and two U.S. senators in the last election. A fair congressional map would split the state's 14 seats about equally between the parties. Instead, Republicans proposed "a map born of arrogance and political greed," in the words of A.G. Holder.

Ohio Republicans have won about 54% of the vote in recent elections. But the GOP just approved maps that will give them 68% of the seats in the state House and 72% in the state Senate.

And in Texas, Republicans have proposed gerrymandered state House, state Senate, and congressional maps, all of which could be signed into law SOON.

So how do we fight back?

We keep making our case to the public
We keep demanding citizen engagement in redistricting
We keep holding Republicans accountable
We keep supporting plaintiffs in lawsuits where necessary
