Hi John,

This morning, four people were shot at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas. Yet again, an American school is scarred forever, yet again, a community is grieving.

It has been a while since a shooting has broken through the noise like this. But that’s not because gun violence has stopped. Gun violence has continued at a record-breaking pace throughout the pandemic.

Every single day, more than 100 people are killed and twice as many are wounded by gun violence. But we have not seen any change in federal gun laws in decades. One reason why? The filibuster, which allows a small group of Senators to block lifesaving progress. The truth is, the filibuster is killing us.
