Friends — Two years ago, New Mexico replaced Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples’ Day — celebrating the strength, resilience, and contributions of Native communities.
The Tribes and Pueblos in New Mexico led the way to reframe the narrative and make Indigenous Peoples’ Day a state holiday. It’s time for the whole country to celebrate it, too.
The United States has a long history of violence against Native Americans and ignoring both their hardships and contributions. We have a lot of work ahead of us to repair the harm that has been done. But Congress has the opportunity to take an important step by finally recognizing Indigenous Peoples’ Day as a federal holiday.
So, will you join Martin in calling for Congress to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples’ Day? Add your name now.

Thank you for speaking out. It’s past time we recognize all that our Tribes and Pueblos have contributed.
