Last week, Republicans brought us to the brink of a catastrophic government shutdown

Thankfully, the Senate was able to keep our government open through December. But without urgent action and bipartisan support, we’re still at risk of defaulting on our national debt this month -- because Mitch McConnell and Republicans in Washington want to jeopardize the full faith and credit of the United States for a political stunt.

Defaulting on our debt could destroy millions of jobs, put Social Security benefits for our seniors at risk, and wreck America’s economy. You can count on me to keep working to ensure that we fulfill our nation’s financial obligations and avoid the economic disaster a debt ceiling crisis would cause for Nevada’s families.

In the Senate, we should be working to help families and small businesses bounce back from this pandemic. Instead, Republicans are playing a game of political chicken with our economy.
