It’s been 9 months since 1/6, and Republican AGs still haven’t been held accountable for their role.
Friend,
Exactly 9 months ago today, our nation’s capitol building was attacked by an unruly mob of Trump supporters who sought to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
While it may be a difficult day to relive, it’s critical that we don’t let Republican politicians cover up the role they played in this attack on our democracy. And friend, they played a role.
In the lead up to the election certification, Republican AGs spent months peddling Donald Trump’s lies and conspiracies about voter fraud.
Indicted Texas Republican AG Ken Paxton spoke at the January 6th Trump rally just hours before the attack on our Capitol.
A branch of the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) even held “war games” to plot what they would do if Donald Trump lost, and later sent a robocall to their extremist supporters to encourage them to march on the Capitol on January 6th to “stop the steal.” Georgia’s Republican AG Chris Carr (RAGA’s Chair) and Florida’s Republican AG Ashley Moody (a RAGA Board Member) are up for reelection in 2022.
It’s shameful that extremist Republicans who actively brought our democracy to the brink for their own political gain are still in office, claiming to represent the will of the people after they worked to overturn the 2020 election.
Florida, Georgia, and Texas are all up for grabs in 2022. If we build grassroots support early, then we can invest in the organizing we need to win big and flip these seats blue in 2022.
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in the next two years, we need your support – will you chip in today?
