Dear John,
On Aug. 29, Hurricane Ida left almost 1 million people without power. Weeks later, many are still working to recover from the damage to their homes and belongings. Food purchased before the storm was lost due to weeks-long power outages. Garbage pickup has been delayed. The community is coming together to support one another. But much remains to be done to make a full recovery.
Help us raise $10,000 for cleanup and recovery. Click here: [link removed]
Our New Orleans staff are talking with community partners and are ready to assist with the many recovery efforts underway. Volunteers are ready to help with food and supply giveaways. Community members are ready to help clear debris off properties, including the community gardens that AFSC’s Peace by Piece program helped establish.
We are listening to community members and finding many needs still unmet by the government and relief response. For instance, we’ve been identifying families who could especially use a helping hand with living expenses. But we need your help.
